BuildConductShare

October 2023 - August 2024
TRABZON

BuildConductShare is a project that aims to reach music teachers, music department graduates or senior students who are actively interacting with children and young people especially in the central districts of Trabzon, and to create a platform where everyone can share by singing.

The project targets to develop the choir singing and conducting skills of its beneficiaries, help them interact with each other and share their artistic productions. There are three types of beneficiaries within the scope of the project: 1. Music educators who participate in choir conducting training programs, 2. Chorists singing in choirs established by the program participants, 3. Audience attending the festival.

A choir will be established comprising of music teachers, music department graduates or senior students (type 1 beneficiary) and the members of said choir will be given the Basic Choir Conductor Training program. Choir studies and the training program will be conducted and coordinated by Dr. Yiğit Can Eyüboğlu, who will be accompanied by pianist Assoc. Prof. Burcu Kalkanoğlu. Choir conducting training will also include workshops on choral singing, basic conducting techniques and educational music by Prof. Ahter Destan, Dr. Atilla Çağdaş Değer, Çiğdem Aytepe and Dr. Mete Gökçe, all renowned choir conductors in Turkey; as well as seminars by expert musicologist Ersin Antep on the history of Turkish choral music and communication-interaction in choirs.

Type 1 beneficiaries will be expected to establish their own choirs by the fourth month of the project, during which both choir conductors and the development of the newly established choirs (type 2 beneficiaries) will be supported. The established choirs will perform in various venues in Trabzon during the Trabzon Choir Festival, which is planned to be held in June 2024. Chorists of the Trabzon Music Educators Choir, which was established as part of the project, will have formed choirs as conductors, directed them and had them perform at the festival. To summarize, the project aims to reach music educators with its first step, children and teenagers with its second step, and the residents of Trabzon with its final step, the festival.
