Since Kurdish is not recognised as a language of education in Turkey, the only possible way for Kurdish people to meet with their own stories, and world classics in their mother tounge is through the performance of works of art. Amed City Theatre's mission is to bring Kurdish epics such as Cembeli û Binevş, Derwêşê Evdî, Mem û Zîn on stage, as well as to translate classics such as Antigone, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Tartuffe, The Miser, Blood Wedding, and Don Quixote into Kurdish to be performed for the audiences.
The project entitled Dek û Dolabên Scapen covered the translation of Moliere's classical theatre play "Scapin The Schemer" into Kurdish, making it part of theatre literature in Kurdish and bringing it in front of the audiences. The Dek û Dolabên Scapen project included young players as well as professional players. Thus, Amed City Theatre aimed to create a ground for the new generation actors of Kurdish theatre to be trained and to expand its crew by providing them with experience.
Dek û Dolabên Scapen, which was staged a total of 29 times, in Diyarbakır, Batman, Van, Şanlıurfa, Izmir, and Istanbul, reached at least 3000 spectators and presented the Kurdish language in the public arena through theatre.
