Domestic Goods

October 2023 - June 2024
MARDIN

Domestic Goods is a fictional short film project directed by Rojda Ezgi Oral. While the project invites us to question and rethink the domestic concept in a century where the indigenous has been destroyed, it strives to establish a narrative by exposing the monistic, authoritarian, oppressive and exclusionary aspects of the education system in the background.

It tells the story of Gabriel (12) and his friends, who want to prepare a product for the Domestic Products Week in line with the criteria set by their teacher. Gabriel is uncertain about what to bring to school for the Domestic Products Week. Upon a question asked by Esma (12), they decide to take the wine in the church, which meets all the criteria. After the chaos at the school, the grumpy principal Ziya (52) enters the classroom, realizes what’s going on and intervenes. A surprise awaits Gabriel, who is called to the principal’s office the next day.
