ENDOPHASIA
December 2023 - September 2024
EDİRNE, ISTANBUL
ENDOPHASIA is a Trans-Media live performance and documentary project built on a process beginning with the discovery of the possibility of recovery, after many years, of an individual suffering aphasia with the use of innovative exercise methods supported by modern technological advancements.
In the 10th year of the aphasia disorder that emerged due to cerebral hemorrhage in 2010, ‘Sinan Uygun,’ the figure at the project’s focus, began customized language and speech exercises under the guidance of his daughter Gökçe Uygun, which also include artificial intelligence and social media technologies. Thanks to said methodology, Sinan showed unexpected improvements in his aphasia disorder after the first year. These surprising developments have allowed the project to evolve into a comprehensive staging process which focuses on neurological, technological and linguistic dimensions in addition to Sinan’s individual development; where concepts of language, expression and performance are opened for discussion with a theatrical experience shaped in the focus of motion, time and narrative, which is simultaneously offered via the use of multimedia reflecting the functionality of the human brain.
In addition, all phases of this multidisciplinary approach will be transformed into a documentary which will include exercises, the staging process, dialogues with relatives and doctors and live performance.
