Gênco was first produced in 2017 as a feature film. The film was shown in festivals, theaters and digital media (Mubi). Gênco has limited powers, with which he can only call the elevator or inflate flat car/bicycle tires. Gênco is a superhero who strives to help people although he can only do ordinary things, while struggling with intestinal issues and existential problems.
Considering the superhero stories which have become series, why not continue Gênco’s adventures too? Gênco’s story, which began as a film, will continue as a cartoon from where it left off.
While Gênco’s new cartoon story will bear certain similarities with the Gênco film in terms of fiction, narrative and aesthetics, it will diverge from the film in that he will try to increase his powers while trying to survive, conflicts between social issues and individual needs will be addressed in absurd comedy and in the form of humor that is not limited to Kurdish subjects in Kurdish-speaking regions, but with particular effort to be conveyed to and read by a broader audience.
