Mek Mezi Culture and Art Meetings

Mek Mezi, which means "Just Us" in Hemşin language, calls the society to unite, to get to know and meet each other, and stand in solidarity. The meetings construct a critical attitude towards the uniform understanding of culture and art imposed by popular culture, and point out the important role of cultural and artistic production in the native languages in transmitting a language and culture to the future. In this project, one of the reflexes that shows strong resistance against the assimilation of Hemşin language and culture in order to transfer and keep alive the language and culture to the future is seen as 'increasing and disseminating Hemşin cultural and artistic productions'.
In this context, two main activities have been foreseen to increase Hemşin cultural and artistic productions. The first of these is the workshops and interviews where experiences that lead to Hemşin musical productions are shared. The second is the acoustic concert meetings organized in the Makriyali Church plain, a cultural memory place in the Makriyal geography, which is concerned with the importance of bringing cultural and artistic productions that are outside of popular culture in Hemşin society to the society.
In the project, the effort of a sincere and socially integrated collective method that embraces cultural ceremonies and fosters a common spirit is pointed out.
