There is Hope in the Countryside: A Festival Dream
November 2023 - November 2024
KİLİS, MARDIN, HATAY
The project aims to contribute to the recovery processes of women and children living in the villages of Kilis, Mardin and Hatay after the earthquake, with culture and art activities. The goal of the project is re-design the Ravanda Festival, which is organized by the Ravanda Women’s Association every year at vine-harvest time, into a more comprehensive, inclusive and influential event with partners from different cities. Bringing together different languages, religions, nations and beliefs with the unifying power of art, the festival aims to organize dance, music, performance-based shows and educational workshops for women and children in harmony with the nature.
Ravanda Women’s Association
Ravanda Women’s Association was established after more than a year-long organization process in an environment where women living in different villages, and even those in the same village, lacked dialogue with each other, public existence, areas to socialize and economic freedom. In addition to the many educational, social and economic activities we have implemented in the last 8 years through this program, we wish to implement a project that combines the fields of culture, art and ecology, which were set by the association during its establishment process. In direct connection with the objectives of the program, we aim to create space for dialogue and participation with stakeholders in different cities, especially after the catastrophic earthquake disaster.
