Supported Projects Announced
Projects supported within the scope of the first open call for the Art Production Grants have been announced. The Art Production Grants provide support to artists between the ages of 25 and 45 working in the field of visual arts. The beneficiaries will develop their works under the consultancy of established figures from the field of culture-arts and academia; thus, providing artists with the sharing of experiences and creating space for networking and access to the art world.
A total of 209 applications were made to the first open call of the Art Production Grants between 17 January and 18 February 2022. Applications were first evaluated by the CultureCIVIC project team, then by Aslı Çetinkaya, Project Coordinator at Depo; Duygu Şengünler, Business Development and Project Coordinator of Pavilion of Turkey at Biennale Arte and Architettura, curator Başak Doğa Temür, Melida Tüzünoğlu, writer and Head of Programme of Spaces of Culture; artist Dilek Winchester and the projects to be supported were determined.

Future Open Calls
CultureCIVIC supports projects that encourage cultural dialogue and public engagement, tolerance, freedom of speech, non-discrimination, social cohesion, individual freedoms and democratic processes in Turkey. Aiming to foster civil society involvement in the field of arts and culture, the programme is open to civil society organisations, initiatives, artists and any individuals, institutions and enterprises with a non-profit mindset. Initiated by Goethe-Institut Istanbul, Anadolu Kültür, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), Institut français de Turquie, and Danish Cultural Institute in Turkey, and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Turkey, CultureCIVIC is funded by the European Union.
Until March 2025, CultureCIVIC will make a total of 14 open calls for four different grant programs for different needs, titled “Grassroots Projects”, “Structural Support”, “Inner-City Networking”, and “Art Production” and will provide more than 1.6 million Euros to over 200 projects.
CultureCIVIC will hold its third open call for the Grassroots Projects Grants in June 2022. The second open call period of Inter-City Networking and Structural Support Grants will start in August and October. The open call calendar for 2022 can be viewed here.
While evaluating projects, priority is given to those activities which support rights-based activities, bringing together actors from different ethnic, religious, linguistic backgrounds and giving special importance to cross-cutting issues such as promotion of gender equality, LGBTI+ rights, social cohesion, human rights, freedom of expression and children's rights.
